Aplaus Fiesta #2: The Cause Finally Championed

I know this was supposed to be the big day for the finalists and winners of AAM, but sorry to steal the limelight. I personally (as the project manager of AAM and Aplaus Fiesta) couldn’t be more blissful than this.

Yes, Mahadi… I knew u’re. That stupid lovey-dovey text u sent me in the middle of the night showed how grateful u’re. We’re all satisfied with what we’ve done. I believed everybody is. Some might be sleeping soundly and dreamt a fairy tale on that nite. Some were too exhausted to express their feelings. Some celebrated it and got high like you. But I dunt need to be drunk to be intoxicated with ecstasy. Believe it or not, no matter how tired and sleepy I was, I couldn’t sleep that night! I smiled and laughed and cried at the same time.

As I remember, flashing back to a year ago, a cause to champion was declared.

Just as soon as I stepped on my homeland. I made it colossal, I voiced it loud. Announce it to the whole world so that everyone knows, then I’ll be bothered if I dun’t make it real.

And beibeh! It works that way!
There’s no turning back if words have been promised. I have to proof to myself that I could make a difference. I need a reason to stay more than just a statement ‘Mom and Dad, I am back for good” was said. I need to work out to get in the way. And I need more than just a rationale. An action!

Ops! No intention to make it sounds serious.

So, before I go on with my crappy philosophy, let me send my gratitude to all of you who has supported me. To my parents who grumbled all nite long and couldn’t sleep ‘cos I was only home midnite, or even early morning on those 2 days before the event.

Hallo? Hah? Not home yet? Do u know what time is it?”

Hallo, Dad. Oh, not yet… there’re still a lot of things to be done here in the office.”

“Are you crazy? This is already midnite. You know what, if I got an employee like you, I would be the happiest Lao Pan already.” He lectured.

“Don’t worry, Dad. I’m not alone here. Most of my colleagues are staying. Just go to bed first. Don’t wait.”

“What? How do u expect ur Daddy to sleep when his girl not yet home at this time?

Oohhhh… Daddy, u’re so sweet. But stop being a daddy pleaseeee…

He and his theory “breeding a daughter is harder than petting a thousand cows” is a bit old fashion. Guys,  don’t u think so? Haha… but at least I know he really really loves me.

Mommy tak mau kalah. She hugged and kissed me after reading the newspaper in the next morning. “I’m proud of you, Darling.

This Darwis really made me, so-called, “the glare of publicity”. Aiyah,.. too much lah. Put my ‘gong-gong’ face so big on page 3 for wat… Your trust and support has done me more than enough.

And to my super team, “You guys had done a fantastic job!

BIG APPLAUSE TO ALL OF US.”

Of course there’re a lot of people I would like to thank. But this is not the Oscar Show. So, keep it short and sweet… you know who you’re, thank you for giving me the chance to do something and be somebody. Thank you for knowing me by heart.

Last but not least, to my inspiration, Janet Lee.
Thank you for showing me how to trust. Now I really understand what the difference between being ‘perfect’ and ‘excellent’ is. Of course Shahnaz got his share for giving me such a hard time. Now I know how to handle people like him. (*Ops, there’s a special case for this issue during the committing of the event. I really learnt a lot here).

Enough for the speech.

Now, lets prepare for the next hit.

See you at the top!

Aplaus Fiesta #1: The Most Jam-Packed Celebration in Town
November 1, 2007, 9:28 pm

Good morning / afternoon / evening to Chan, Atanid, Ade, Ching, and Lishe who’re far-far away over the ocean, I know u’re craving so so much for this report. You guys have been nagging me for days. Well, I got the semangat to blab, but got no tenaga to type leh. But hey, finally… this is for you.

The art of Celebrating Lifestyle.

O-ow, not meant to blow the horn, but this is one of the most happening exhibition-entertainment event in Sun Plaza. Seriously! Not because I’m an in-house talent, but it was sincerely groovy, lively, juicy, bouncy, trendy and chillin’… more than what we expected.

OK..OK… I said ‘one of the most‘, not ‘the most’.

As you can see, the exhibition design was sophisticated and modern in style. Well, it better be. The committee had already put a lot lotz of effort and was very detail for the finishing. Amazing backdrop design, colors used, shape and space, adorable mascots, the talents, the artworks, typography, giant banners and all promotional items, merchandise, the specially designed T-Shirts for the committee, multimedia presentation, standing flowers, props, sofa set, lighting, and even choices of backsound music. G!!! Eight months for preparing this, Man! Eight months…

Of course nothing is perfect. Traffic and logistic were a bit lack here and there.
An old song, blame the technical problem.

The character displays got wet during the loading that we’d to reprint, cut, and stick each of them until 1 a.m. in the morning. Then Ben missed out the morning flight and touched down a bit late for last minute briefing. Thanks God, he’s a smart guy.

More over, the 60′ TV Plasma installed on the stage was ‘kaput’ just 3 hours before the show. Instead, we got 42′ after an episode of panic. Confetti also didn’t shoot on the opening ceremony. The rundown was a bit over the schedule. But still… the venue was jam-packed. Isn’t it good, that after all, the crowd’s still around and gathered in the main atrium to witness the new era of local creativity?

Yeah, that’s exactly the point.
There’s no such thing as a pefect event. We just wanna keep it chill, memorable, and as lively as Aplausers themselves. Be crazy, be expresive. Thou the first day was a bit formal (but meaningful), the second day succesfully gave those experiences. Congrats to all AAM winners, their works’re amazing. Thanks to Opiet and team as well. And especialy for the MCs, you guys rock!!!

On the other corner of the main atrium, transaction was good. For the first time, Aplaus commercialize its design collection for merchandise and fashion items. There’re limited edition T-Shirt, mug, caps, pins, and birthday cards in the booth. Not bad at all for the first timer. Maybe in the future Aplaus can have its own fashion brand. Who knows.

Tarot stand was fashionably popular. Big thanks to out Tarot Diviner, Xuang Li, who had intrepreted this celebration before it happenned. Sofyan Kwan and Mandyko did well their parts as well. Either did Peppito and Super Wonderland. Most Favorite, was the Magician Show, Invicible 999 from Bandung. They’re stunning.

For those who’re ‘malu-malu kucing’ and missed the boat on the red carpet pose, shame on you. Aplaus Spotlite was really fun. Check this out.

Yeah, certainly reading this blog can’t beat the experiences you got with Aplaus team on the spot. So, next time, make sure that you don’t miss out any of Aplaus event.

Sleepy bunny, I’m departing to lala land soon.

Many stories to tell, less battery is left.

Im going off now.

To be continued.
